Mechanical Design Lead

We are in search of a founding team member to focus on the system architecture and subsystem designs of our first prototype on a part-time basis.

Who we are

We're a pre-seed technology start-up working at the intersection of robotics, machine-learning and agriculture.

We're excited about technology but even more so about the ways it could be employed to solve old problems. We also love open-source technologies and platforms, like ROS, Arduino and KiCad, and seek to utilise and contribute towards them as much as we can.

We are currently working on a prototype of our first robotic solution and would love to find the right person to join us on this journey. Given the stage we are at, we are only seeking part-time involvement with the option to transition to full-time as our organisation grows.

Job description

The main responsibility of this role would be to architect the interactions between and detailed designs of the various hardware components of our first robotic solution. Given the small nature of the team, this role is also likely to branch aspects of manufacture and electronics.

Essential skills

  • checkStrong systems engineering mindset and practical experience of the engineering V
  • checkStrong experience working with Solidworks, FreeCAD or other CAD suite
  • checkStrong experience with hands-on rapid prototyping and transitioning early concepts to development
  • checkFamiliarity with programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Javascript)
  • checkFamiliarity with FEA tools

The ideal candidate would be highly-motivated, capable of figuring things out for themselves and happy to share their knowledge with the wider team.
